Tips to Keep Your Swimming Pool Inviting and Sparkling Clean

Having a swimming pool at home is a real luxury that not everybody gets to enjoy. So, to maintain this luxury level, it is wise to pay heed on how to keep a swimming pool clean and well-conditioned. Here are some of the pool maintenance tips that will help you keep your pool crystal clear, inviting, refreshing, and ready for use every day.

      1. Check the pH Regularly

You should check once or twice a week that the pH of your swimming pool is between 7.2 and 7.8. The lower the pH on this scale, the less chlorine you will need in your swimming pool. As the value rises, chlorine will become less and less active and therefore, you will end up adding it more and more to your swimming pool to attain the same effectiveness. So, control the pH and you will need to use less chlorine.

      2. Clean the Skimmer Baskets Weekly

A skimmer is installed in the side of the pool to skim the surface of the pool before debris and contaminants become saturated and float down to the bottom. Since everything enters through the surface of the pool water, it is best to keep your skimmer effective. The more stuff it can skim off, the better will be your pool. There is a round access panel on the deck. All you need to do is to open it up and dump the basket contents as needed. The main goal here is to keep your skimmer basket clean all the time.

      3. Check Ozonator

If you have this equipment, make sure the light is on and it is actually working. It can help in reducing the amount of chlorine your pool uses. If it is not properly working, you can also call pool maintenance professionals for repair or replacement.

      4. Clean the Lint Pot

The lint pot located at the front of the pool pump should be cleaned every couple of weeks or as needed. Turn off the pump and release pressure. It is just a basket installed inside the clear glass of your pool pump. Alternatively, you can clear out the debris catcher or leaf basket. If you have not upgraded, get a 2-speed or variable pump installed as it is worth the initial expense.

       5. Check Chlorinator

If you have a deck chlorinator or in-line chlorinator, it is also needed to be checked regularly to ensure the proper chlorine tablet level, loading, or possible clogging. Depending upon the style and features, this unit can add a constant residual of chlorine.

       6. Clean Pool Filters

A clean, well-functioning pool filter provides the maximum flow rates, waste a little valuable water, and get the water crystal clear. It requires cleaning a couple of times a year and for that, you can also hire pool maintenance service. A pool filter may also need cleaning after a heavy storm or once every few months depending upon conditions in your pool.

Follow these tips and your swimming pool will stay in a brand new condition for the entire year.

My fiance and I have been trying to find someone in our area that can check swimming pools because the one in our apartment has looked kind of dirty recently. I appreciated that you said that a clean filter can help maximize the flow rates and make the water look cleaner, and I think whoever we hire should check this. It will be good to find the right expert soon so we can start using the pool in the next few months.

I just moved into a home with a swimming pool, and I want to make sure that I take good care of it! I’ve never owned a swimming pool before, so I’m glad that I found your post. I think that your tips are going to help me a lot! I especially liked what you mentioned about cleaning the skimmer basket to make sure it is free from debris. cleaning a pool seems more complex than I expected, so I will hire a professional instead, so thanks for the help.

Swimming pools often get filled with the leaves and other things. When leaves get filled in the swimming pool it looks dirty. So these leaves need to be removed from the pool. This article shows how to remove leaves from our swimming pools. Thanks a lot.

I like how you mentioned that the first step to maintaining your pool at a luxury level is checking the pH and ensuring that levels are anywhere between 7.2 and 7.8. My brother is thinking of looking for a maintenance specialist because he noticed the other day that his pool water was a little murkier than usual. It seems like a good idea for my brother to think about hiring a reputable professional to help maintain his swimming area so that the water can be as clean as possible for him and his family to enjoy.

Thank you for sharing always clean the pool filters in order to keep the maximum flow rate and the water crystal clear. My friend just moved to a new house with a huge swimming pool last month. I would remind him to always clean the filters and do proper maintenance by hiring a cleaning service that is reliable and experienced.

I want to make sure that my swimming pool is properly cared for, but I'm not sure how to go about it. It makes sense that I would want to get a professional to care for it for me. That seems like a good way to ensure that it's correctly cleaned.

I appreciate what you said about lowering the pH level if you need to. My pool has been cracking and I'm not sure if it is because of the pool has a problematic composition. I need to get a contractor to fill in the cracks.

Thanks for helping me understand that the pH levels must be checked regularly. As you said, it should be between 7.2 and 7.8. I will keep that in mind and hire professionals to regularly check and clean the pool for us since we are not that experts yet. It's because it's the first time that we will be living in a property with a pool after I bought this house this year.

I like how you mentioned that the lower that pH the less chlorine you will need in your swimming pool. My cousin mentioned to me last night that he is planning to have their swimming pool cleaned for my nephews to enjoy the weekends and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article and I'll be sure to tell him that it will be much better if we consult a trusted pool maintenance company as they can answer all our inquiries and will provide good-quality service.

It was really helpful when you said to check the pH of the swimming pool twice a week. My husband and I moved into a home a couple of weeks ago that has a pool in the backyard, and we want to make sure that we know how to maintain it properly. We'll have to look into hiring professional pool services that can help us with the pH levels!

It got me when you said that proper care for the filter will ensure that the water will flow well and it will be clear. With that in mind, I should have a weekly swimming pool cleaning service for our property which we moved into just this month. It will be worth it as well to invest in this now that summer is coming, so we can use it and invite neighbors or friends over with us.
