How Much Does It Cost to Hire a Professional for Pool Cleaning?

There is no denying that most homeowners don’t want to spend their weekends in cleaning or maintaining their swimming pools. The most suitable solution to save time and efforts is to hire a contractor or service provider that offers a wide array of pool services so that you don’t have to waste time in searching for different professionals every time you want your pool to be ready for use. Getting the assistance of professionals can help you to keep your pool clean and rejuvenating throughout the year.

But, the question is - how much does it cost to hire a professional for cleaning? To find out the precise answer you need to consider the following factors.

How Often Your Pool is Cleaned
Most pool service providers often pay a visit weekly but there are also provisions to sign up for bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly maintenance. The thing you need to notice here is that you may be charged less per visit when you sign for weekly plan. It is because it is easier to keep a pool clean and well-maintained when it is taken care of regularly. However, if you choose a monthly or quarterly plan, you should be prepared to do a lot of work yourself to keep the pool ready to use.

Size of Your Swimming Pool
Most backyard pools don’t differ much in size. Since the part of maintenance cost also includes the cost of chemicals for your pool, you will pay more for a larger pool than a smaller one. Though the difference may not be significant when you hire service for a smaller pool, you still have to pay them for their time to maintain it.

Services Added to Your Package
This is the point where calculating the estimated cost of pool service gets tricky. The total cost depends on which of the pool services you are adding to the package. For the least, a pool service provider should empty your skimmer baskets, Polaris bag, and pump baskets along with checking and balancing the pH of your swimming pool water.

List of additional services offered by pool maintenance companies:
  1. Vacuuming the bottom of the pool
  2. Skimming the pool surface
  3. Brushing and cleaning the pool walls and stairs
  4. Cleaning the tiles at waterline
  5. Adjusting water levels, whenever required
  6. Maintaining the filtration system
  7. Backwashing the filter
  8. Preparing the swimming pool for summers
  9. Closing the pool for winters

While some of these services are better to hire weekly, some are not necessarily required as often and thus, they should be billed separately.

Hiring Pool Services for Special Occasion
If you don’t usually maintain a crystal clear swimming pool and want it to be ready for use for some special occasion, it would be more expensive to clean than a pool that has been well-maintained. In case your pool is in need of any repairs, it will increase the final cost.

All these factors are the ones that affect the cost of pool services significantly. So, do the estimation including all these factors.

Having a swimming pool at home is a real luxury that not everybody gets to enjoy. So, to maintain this luxury level, it is wise to pay heed on how to keep a swimming pool clean and well-conditioned. Here are some of the pool maintenance tips that will help you keep your pool crystal clear, inviting, refreshing, and ready for use every day.

      1. Check the pH Regularly

You should check once or twice a week that the pH of your swimming pool is between 7.2 and 7.8. The lower the pH on this scale, the less chlorine you will need in your swimming pool. As the value rises, chlorine will become less and less active and therefore, you will end up adding it more and more to your swimming pool to attain the same effectiveness. So, control the pH and you will need to use less chlorine.

      2. Clean the Skimmer Baskets Weekly

A skimmer is installed in the side of the pool to skim the surface of the pool before debris and contaminants become saturated and float down to the bottom. Since everything enters through the surface of the pool water, it is best to keep your skimmer effective. The more stuff it can skim off, the better will be your pool. There is a round access panel on the deck. All you need to do is to open it up and dump the basket contents as needed. The main goal here is to keep your skimmer basket clean all the time.

      3. Check Ozonator

If you have this equipment, make sure the light is on and it is actually working. It can help in reducing the amount of chlorine your pool uses. If it is not properly working, you can also call pool maintenance professionals for repair or replacement.

      4. Clean the Lint Pot

The lint pot located at the front of the pool pump should be cleaned every couple of weeks or as needed. Turn off the pump and release pressure. It is just a basket installed inside the clear glass of your pool pump. Alternatively, you can clear out the debris catcher or leaf basket. If you have not upgraded, get a 2-speed or variable pump installed as it is worth the initial expense.

       5. Check Chlorinator

If you have a deck chlorinator or in-line chlorinator, it is also needed to be checked regularly to ensure the proper chlorine tablet level, loading, or possible clogging. Depending upon the style and features, this unit can add a constant residual of chlorine.

       6. Clean Pool Filters

A clean, well-functioning pool filter provides the maximum flow rates, waste a little valuable water, and get the water crystal clear. It requires cleaning a couple of times a year and for that, you can also hire pool maintenance service. A pool filter may also need cleaning after a heavy storm or once every few months depending upon conditions in your pool.

Follow these tips and your swimming pool will stay in a brand new condition for the entire year.
